What We Do:
The Nurturing Ministry recruits volunteers to serve in the following areas:
Ushers - Ensure that members of the congregation are comfortably seated and have bulletins and other printed materials. see volunteers list at /content.asp?SID=1335&CID=93073
Greeters - Welcome members and guests as they arrive for worship.
Nursery Helpers - Assist the staff person responsible for the care of our preschool children during Sunday School and the 10:30 AM worship service. See the list of volunteers needed at /content.asp?SID=1335&CID=93072
Message for Young Disciples - Present a "mini sermon" for children during the first part of the 10:30 AM worship service.
Childrens Church - Provides a Christian learning experience for our children while their parents participate in the second half of the 10:30 AM worship service. (temporarily not running)
Flowers - Enhance the beauty of the sanctuary for each worship service. There are special flowers on Easter, Mother's Day, Father's Day and Christmas. See the yearly schedule of volunteers at /content.asp?SID=1335&CID=93071
Acolytes - Offers children the opportunity to actively participate in the worship service. See schedule at "Acolytes" at /content.asp?SID=1335&CID=93030
Liturgists - Lay person participates in worship by reading scripture and leading congregational responses. See yearly schedule at "Liturgist Schedule" at /content.asp?SID=1335&CID=93026
Bus Drivers - The church provides transportation for anyone who needs a way to get to the 9:30 AM Sunday School and 10:30 AM worship service. See yearly schedule at "Bus Driver Schedule" at /content.asp?SID=1335&CID=93027
Birthday and Anniversary Lists - By maintaining birthday and anniversary lists and publishing them in the Sunday bulletin, members are able to extend their good wishes to others in the church family. If you would like to add or change your dates, please call the church office (735-0343) or email the secretary at secretary@carthageumc.com
Church Directory - The pictorial directory is updated and published approximately every 3 years, providing members with a handy reference of other members' addresses and phone numbers.

Special Events - Fellowship suppers, "hanging of the greens" at Christmas and breakfast following Easter sunrise service are some of the special events presented throughout the year.
Directory of Shut-ins and College Students - A list of college students and shut-ins is maintained so that various Sunday School classes and other groups within the church can send cards and greetings during the year.

We welcome your suggestions for improving the work of our committee. Please call our chairperson if you are interested in serving on this committee, or you may contact the church office at 735-0343 to speak with the pastor (who is also Chairman of the Nominating Committee).
