Steven was born on September 16, 1965 in Waverly, Tennessee.  He was the son of a United Methodist minister, and he has two brothers that are United Methodist ministers in the Tennessee Conference of The United Methodist Church.  He married Crystal (who is also from Waverly) on August 5, 2000. They have three sons: Nathaniel (13), Parker (8), and Peyton (3). 

Steven has degrees from the following institutions:  A.A. from Martin Methodist College (1990), B.A. and B.S. from Austin Peay State University (1992), and a Master of Divinity from Asbury Theological Seminary (1996). He serves on the Tennessee Conference Board of Ordained Ministry.  

Steven has served at Carthage United Methodist Church since July 2009.  Prior to that he served the following appointments:  White House 1^st United Methodist Church (2001-09), Bethel (1989-90), Indian Mound Circuit (1990-93), Lobelville-Buffalo (1993-96), Cookeville 1^st(1996-98), Gainesboro 1^st (1998-01). His freshman year at Martin Methodist College (1988-89), he served as Youth Director of East End UMC in Savannah, Tennessee.

Steven’s interests include spending time with his wife and sons, playing and watching sports of any kind, going to concerts and theatre, and spending quiet time with God. His favorite place to go is Lake Junaluska, NC.  (United Methodist campground), because he feels closer to God there due to its serene beauty.  He also enjoys visiting the campus of Asbury Theological Seminary, where he really began to grow spiritually and understand Christianity in the Wesleyan tradition.

Steven’s passion is to love his family and church members, and to reach out to the people who do not have a relationship with God or the Church.
